Apple iPads 2023: What to Expect from the Future of Tablets

Larger iPads
One of the most intriguing rumors about the future iPads is the possibility of larger screen sizes. Currently, the largest iPad available is the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which offers a stunning Liquid Retina XDR display with ProMotion technology and P3 wide color. However, some sources suggest that Apple may be working on even bigger iPads, with 14-inch or 16-inch displays, that could debut in 2023.
According to display analyst Ross Young, Apple could launch a 14-inch iPad in early 2023, followed by a 16-inch iPad in late 2023. These models could be part of the iPad Pro family, or they could be branded as iPad Ultra, to differentiate them from the existing iPad models. These larger iPads could rival the 14.6-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, which launched in 2022 as the biggest Android tablet ever.
The benefits of larger iPads could include more screen real estate for multitasking, productivity, and entertainment, as well as higher resolution and brightness. However, they could also come with some drawbacks, such as increased weight, reduced portability, and higher price. It remains to be seen how Apple would balance these factors and design these larger iPads to appeal to consumers.
Faster Processors
Another rumor about the future iPads is the upgrade of their processors. In 2022, Apple released three new iPad models: the iPad Air (2022), which features the M1 chip; the iPad 10th gen, which features the A14 Bionic chip; and the iPad Pro M2, which features the M2 chip. These chips offer impressive performance and efficiency for various tasks, such as browsing, gaming, video editing, and more.
However, Apple is not one to rest on its laurels, and it is likely that it will continue to improve its chips for the next generation of iPads. According to leaker Majin Bu, who correctly predicted some details about the iPad Pro M2, Apple may introduce a new chip called M2X for the larger iPads in 2023. This chip could offer even more power and speed than the M2 chip, as well as support for more RAM and storage options.
Alternatively, Apple could use a different naming scheme for its future chips, such as M3 or A15 Bionic. Whatever the name, we can expect that Apple will deliver some of the best processors in the tablet market for its upcoming iPads.

Besides larger screens and faster processors, Apple may also add more features to its future iPads to enhance their functionality and versatility. Some of these features could include:
- 5G connectivity: Apple already offers 5G cellular options for some of its current iPad models, such as the iPad Air (2022), the iPad Pro M2, and the iPad mini (2022). However, it is possible that Apple will expand this feature to more models in 2023, such as the entry-level iPad or the larger iPads. This would allow users to enjoy faster and more reliable internet access on their tablets wherever they go.
- USB-C connector: Apple has gradually replaced the Lightning connector with the USB-C connector on some of its iPad models, such as the iPad Air (2022), the iPad Pro M2, and the iPad mini (2022).
